joining the family 72 newport

well took her out the weekend and she was driving good till I took her out on the highway and was doing 80 when something went wrong .started breaking down no power found the coil was going bad it was over heating then a bad squeal out of the front driver wheel .when I got it home under her own power 20 miles she did good .I took the drivers wheel off and look no brake pad at all so I took the passenger side off and the caliper was frozen solid .the car was stopping with no problems before this .so the plan is to go thru and check everything over all what a ride at 80 :steering::drama: of owning an old car

First things to do after getting a new vehicle are check/renew brakes and lines, check fuel tank and lines and check coolant. Also safest to replace all fluids and probably rubber hoses as you never know their condition.

You got away with it this time, you probably won't get a second chance.

Best of luck.

you aunt kidding i was lucky all new brakes and working on the coolant .have a hesitation when driving it
ordering a new distributor from Chrysler getting away from the old stuff one with the orange box on it

here is the fender tag for the 72 that is now on the road and running good after a intake leak and a carb

Crap! I thought you fixed the brakes! Yer probably gonna need new everything. I had to replace master cylinder, booster and wheel cylinders on my '66 to finally get the brakes straightened out.

on the way to work I thing the booster let go so I will just take my time going home 45 minute ride .
I just got the skip out of the motor after replacing intake manifold gasket and carb ,plugs and wire .now it runs good .does anyone know what I should get for gas mileage 400 2 barrel

Mine gets 8 to 12 depending on weather! Nice ride by the way!

I remember reading your 2019 post re: moldings, but just stumbled upon your first thread re: CM23M2C222248 -- very nice HL4 Newport Custom! As @Ripinator said, nice period color. As @saforwardlook often says, yellow/green or beige/green (HL4 with D3F6 interior and V1F vinyl roof) combos work very well on these cars.
