There are similar bikes mostly twowheeled however on the roads over here, supposed to be rather comfortable, I find them a bit dangerous in traffic however as they're pretty low to be overseen.

Bicycles are major mode of transportation, exercise and leisure in Europe. A lot of people, even in their 80's, are a common sight everywhere in Europe riding bikes.
