Just worked a deal on this 69 Newport factory four color car.

I'm not convinced with this method of thinking. Who knew the car was stashed away in some obscure salvage yard......? Not even a half dozen folks who would give a hoot probably.

Well, that must be true... I didn't think that point at all, but now - thanks to J-Macs - there are already a lot of people who know about this car and can step up, right? I mean REAL c-body people? And I don't mean Cbodydrydock and the other forums are not full of real c-body guys and gals, but the action seems to be here nowadays.

Advertising in the other forums wouldn't hurt though...

The thing is, is I already have this car. Don't have to deal with shipping or people trying to beat me down or say theirs is better. I just want to start the project, it's not like I'm changing anything that can't be changed back, for the most part. The cars been there for 15 years, it has been listed on their website which is fairly well known. It's not a factory 440 car, so no one took it. A few years ago I had a 74 charger that was beat up and rusty. I offered it for $500, no takers so we decided to derby it. People freaked out on dodgecharger.com. Everyone said to save it, it's a charger and to nice to ruin. I told them to come and get it for $200, left it alone for a month. The car got derbyed. No one would come get it for $200 after they kept saying to save it and that they wish they could restore it. If someone else wants to "save" this car, step up to the plate and make me an offer!!!

It's sad, but so true. No one will answer the call because the fact of the matter is we want YOU to save it, and then we want to watch.

I bought a 70 300 that was supposed to be a parts car, nothing special, but then the "Save the Whales" campaign started here on FCBO and a year later it remains intact and the vert remains undone. Of course, as I dug into it, I see it is completely original; engine, trans, interior and paint. Black, no vinyl, white interior, AC....my mind swirls when I think of the possibilities of both a vert and a hard top! But then again it's a year later and....

Everything can be reversed, do it and document it, I think it will be cool. I especially would like to see the Hurst hood, I've toyed with that idea myself for the vert. It should have been a factory option, no decals, just the contours on that massive hood....

I am happy that the rare black 1970 300 2dr without v-roof is still alive.
Make it running and enjoy it as a local driver while fixing the vert over the years

Yes, it was supposed to produce "driver quality" parts for the vert. I did get it to run but it is not yet "drivable" except up and down the driveway.

Cool Newport, those two door cars seem to have endless quarterpanels, love the color of the doorpanels.

Looks like you`ll have your work cut out for you if you`re gonna restore that one, I love the line "ran when parked" in for sale ads, don`t they all run before one parks them and turns the engine off?

Samplingman, I will say that your black 300 is pretty bad ***. If you were closer, I really would be all over that car. I think it would be a really cool driver. That being said, I respect your decision either way. But IF this other job pans out starting in January, I will buy it from you if you want to sell it next spring.

Northernfins, it's going to be a project and I am going to learn how to do all the sheet metal work myself. I am excited about that part a lot. It's going to be a cool car, and I agree. Those 1/4s go on for miles.


I did play with the car for a while while I was at the yard yesterday. I did get it cranking over, but it doesn't have spark and cranks pretty slow, so I'm going to have to look into that issue.

I say do what you want to it. Its yours. At least its gonna hit the road again. I found and bought a rough 69 300 Vert that has a solid body and is a L Code car. The interior, seats, door panels were so bad I threw them out. The top frame is all there but the canvas is gone. The dash frame has rust through on it. I am gonna find a Fury dash frame and all its components and bolt that in my 300 along with swapping from the tilt and tele to a floorshift 69 regular column. I have also found the parts to four speed the car. It we kinda be like a base model 300 they never made.

Im with you on the Hurst hood. If I could find the hood and the decklid, spoiler parts I would put them on also. I have even contemplated cutting the humps from a 69 or 70 Fury hood and welding them into my 300 hood.
