Kubota hydraulic hose

I had a hose spring a leak the last night. Today I tried to remove so I could get a new one tomorrow. The end at the controls came off with ease. The end at the cylinder won't budge. I tried spraying it Freeze off, no go. I tried heating the block on the cylinder to release the fitting, no go.

I'm open to ideas. Feel free to tell me if what I'm about to suggest is crazy. I'm going to cut the fitting off so that I can put a socket on it with an impact. I cannot get a line wrench on it due to the design of the fitting.

Thoughts? I'm hoping someone has experience with hydraulic fittings.

Left handed threads? IDK, but I've seen them used for reasons I don't always understand. It never hurts to try tightening before loosening anyhow.
 
It should be standard right hand thread. All of mine are. I'm guessing that it's just rusted on. Cutting it scares me simply because of the potential metal shavings that could get into the system and/or cylinder. Have you tried a pipe wrench yet?
 
Heated it up and tried to tighten, no go.

It should be standard right hand thread. All of mine are. I'm guessing that it's just rusted on. Cutting it scares me simply because of the potential metal shavings that could get into the system and/or cylinder. Have you tried a pipe wrench yet?
Maybe it would be better for me if I scared easier. Not enough room for a pe wrench. Maybe if it was a full size unit.
Cut it off, jammed a 5/8 socket on with my small 18v impact no go either way. Put a 3/8 dr. ratchet with 4' of pe valve right out.

Hopefully since I removed the end of the fitting and oil flowed freely from the cylinder I won't have issues with filings from the cut.
 
Good to see you got it off. I'm guessing that all of your lines are old, so get ready to do them all. At least that's what happened to me. Every rubber line on my tractor let go within a 6 month period. Then 2 cylinders started leaking:rolleyes:, but that was an easy rebuild.
 
The locals built me a new house for less than $20 so I'm not complaining. More to put it on with a new filter. If I wasn't in the middle of a project i would've been tempted to buy all new hoses. Check this out, they give the details for every hose in the book.

I recently learned a lesson about Kubota filters. I thought I'd save some $ by cross referencing to a Wix filter at Oreillys. As it turns out not only was the Wix branded filter $10 more than the Kubota, the Kubota hydro filter has a magnet in the mouth and Wix is one of the OE suppliers for Kubota.
 
It's those fittings that actually cost something. I think my tractor has a few that run 10-15$ a fitting. I have a Kubota dealer less then 5 minutes from me who makes all of my hydo lines, even power steering if I can't find it. .50 cent per foot + fitting. That's good to know about the Kubota filters. The most puzzling thing I discovered in doing this fix is that the fluid in the hydraulics of the hoe is motor oil - 10W40 to be exact. I would've never guessed it. I buy fittings for work so I knew that they could be expensive. I went to one of the shops that I buy stuff for work from, I'm sure I got the company rate.

Really? How did you figure that out and what tractor are you working on? Or is this some PTO driven unit?

I've run a few drilling rigs over the years that used motor oil for the hydraulics not that uncommon.
I don't have fraction of your experience, but have learned to read so I don't use the wrong fluid...

BTW, incompatible fluid can be catastrophic to any hydraulic system... seals and hoses to lubrication to aeration problems can wipe out a good system, fast.
