Thank you to Big _John for his last answer, and after taking this photo, my back will be giving me pain for three days.

What on earth is this connection for?
The connection is a black rubber piece, that doesn’t appear to have a corresponding male fitting anywhere nearby.

It’s under the dash, down near the brake light stop switch on my 72 Fury.
I will post both photos I took, because the 3 wires appear to have different coloured wires, depending on the angle and lighting..
I’m always grateful for the input that anybody has.

Chrysler was known to install the same harness in the line with or without certain options to keep costs down.

It may be for cruise control brake pedal cancel switch??

2 cars, one with cruise control and the other without got the same basic harness.
The car with cruise, its optional separate harness was added..just plug n play.
Ditto light group cars (map light, rear door jam switches in 4drs)
Radio delete cars still had plugs for a radio and sometimes even the dealer will install a radio or a rear defogger.
Very common to see bare bones cars have a harness with many extra plugs not in use.
Hope this helps.

Thank You c barge. I will have a look at those possibilities. My car has cruise, but it needs some minor tlc, not working at the moment. I will look at the FSM circuit diagrams again. I’m getting the hang of the circuit diagrams now- they’re actually not as complex as initial appearances had me thinking. All the best, and I thank you for taking the time to help me with fixing up my Fury. I really enjoy the camaraderie it brings, and helps me get over the boredom i previously experienced daily. Now the new c body hobby is helping a lot.

I don't believe that is for the cruise control connection to the brake switch, but I could be wrong.

I always recommend a digital copy of the service manual as you can print out the page and then color in the circuits you are working on with a high-lighter or colored markers.

This is from the Chrysler Master Tech service training. It may help you understand some of the nuances.

As always Big_John your informed and reliable responses make my c body that much more positive and enjoyable. Your generous sharing of what is clearly, decades around Chryslers, is noted and remembered.
Thanks
