OK guys, first of many questions to be sure. So my 69 300 has a steady leak (auto trans) where the linkage connects. Is this fixable without removing tranny? What part # (seal or gasket) is needed? Thanks a bunch. I have an online parts catalog but cannot figure out which part it could be. Tim.

It sounds to be the shift seal. You can do it without taking tranny out but you may have to drop pan and pull the valve body out. Somebody males a tool to do it while its in the car but I don't remember where I saw it. The seal is only a few bucks.

OK. I see what it looks like. Now how the hell do you run it!
The part with the bolt on top is the removal tool. You back out the bolt and with a box end wrench screw the threads right in the the inside diameter of the old seal. Then you run in the top bolt and presto the seal is out. The other piece is the installer. It fits over the shift shaft and you hammer in the seal. Now you're done! No more leak.

When I need one I go to my buddy who builds tranny's. He buy them 10-20 at a time from a transmission parts supply house. Since you only need one I bet NAPA would have them.

OK guys, thanks for all the assistance...Ordered the tool, found the seal (ordered 5 of them), awaiting shipment. Now for all the rest...
