Okay I have posted for a while because I've been busy with school and life. Anyways, as some recall I had purchased an "mint" 84 Chrysler Fifth Avenue and loved the car. But, I wanted something the wife was more in agreement with. Okay fine at this point. So, as a random thought and again I struggled with myself, I put the car up on eBay and ironically it sold it. I was surprised it sold for what it did but, it was a really clean car and everything worked including the "Opera" lights.

So, what did my wife like you might of asked? Well, she liked the 78-79 Dodge Magnum and she thought the 75-79 Cordobas were okay. I did think about jumping to another brand but, I think I'll stick with what I'm somewhat familiar with as well. Okay great, now I have something that might, just might be a little easier to justify to spend money on. Initially for a long time I've always wanted a Magnum. So, off we start to look at several Magnums.

The other thing I looked at was Lil' Red Expresses. I used to own one and it was a cool truck but, I was a knucklehead and traded up for a 68 Dodge Coronet 2 door Hardtop with a 318 with Manual Steering/Brakes. The LREs were all of what I wanted to pay for at this point in time. So, back to looking for Magnums. The long story is some of these cars were again out of my price range plus they were being sold by a broker as well. Per granted they were T-Top cars but, I wasn't really looking for a T-Top car since these cars are heavily based on the 71-74 B-Body platform to begin with.

So, I looked around for a while. I found a few candidates and inquired about several. The problem with one was rust, another was rust issues, the one the seller never got back to me (it was a 400/sunroof car) and the other was rust again from being driven here in the salt belt. Well hmm... I thought to myself.

So, I started looking around. Even looking at some western cars revealed either deep fried "Corinthian" Leather or rusty trunk lids. I did have one that interested me and it was a sweet ride but, the problem was "no title" and just a bill of sale. That car was a brown 77 T-Top car with a 400 in it but, having to get a court order title would prove to be a pain. Okay so time to keep looking. Well, I happened on eBay and found this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chrysler-Co...a2fc9d59:g:-4EAAOSwFnFV-MS7&item=191713025369

I thought okay it looks appealing and with the spare parts. I wasn't a huge fan of 79s but, why not. With all that's been done I don't think I could buy and build one for the asking price. Plus, the wheels started turning more when I got the undercarriage pictures. dobaneath.jpgdobaneath2.jpgdobaneath3.jpgdobaneath4.jpgdobaneath5.jpg

At this time, there was another gentleman whom was selling a 79 Cordoba out of Washington state that was a nice ride as well. It was a Spinnaker White car but, that seller too backed out after his wife told him not to sell the car. So, long story short this is what I ended up buying. I ended up with a slew of new/NOS parts to go with the car so that helps ease things a bit.

So, the specs is that it is a 1979 Cordoba in Cadet Blue with Blue "Corinthian" Leather Interior. The seats are standard buckets with a jump seat. The car has tilt, cruise, A/C, power windows, rear defroster, 100 AMP alternator, and the digital "Chronometer" in the dash. The car is powered by its original 360 2bbl engine that has had the "Lean Burn" removed and been converted over to an electronic ignition setup. The carburetor and other bits like the kickdown linkage, came from a 360 4bbl Cordoba. The engine has received a "340 restoration cam" at some point along with a double roller timing chain and Edelbrock Performer Intake. It has also received dual exhaust with no converters, turbo mufflers, and sounds pretty decent. The transmission is a A999 Torqueflite with no lockup I'm aware of and the rear axle is a standard 8.25 with 2.45 gears.

The other things address is the front suspension has been rebuilt, rear leaf springs have been replaced, and the gentleman I bought it from has had it 18 years. It has been to Carlisle and in fact that is where he bought it from. It supposedly came from NJ and I will now be the fourth owner.

In fact, here is a picture of it taken at Carlisle at some point.

So, while I love the factory wheel covers on this car the reason how I ended up with the wheels is another story. Long story short, I had bought a set of Mirada wheels that needed more polishing than I wanted to do so off to look at wheels. After looking at several wheels and giving thought to Keystone, Cragars, Torq Thrusts, Mopar Rallyes, and Slot Mags even. So, I came across these and thought they are different and would break up the color combination on the car. I had purchased a set of tires and got a decent deal on them as well.

I also purchased new McGard Lug Nuts as well and so here is the car as it sits today. It drives pretty decent but, I'd love to have some softer seats. Speaking of, I do have the original or similar material for the seats the gentleman purchased at some point to go with the car. Okay, enough talking here is some pictures I'm taken before I have to put it away for the winter.

Someone had asked about the wheels. They are Cragar Eliminator 500 series that are 15x7s with 235/60/15s.

Very good choice on the rims. They are among my top 3 recently produced aftermarkets.

Striking design resemblance to the Pontiac GP btw.

Maybe the nicest one of those I've seen, congrats!

I have a 79 parts car almost complete if you need something PM me. Your car looks great nice choice on the wheels. Ive had everything from dog dish to Cragar to Magnum 500's on Dobas over the years but your choice looks great! Engine compartment looks very clean as well. Nice car wish my wife liked them as much as yours.

I reside in Indiana now. I can't remember if I mentioned this but, this car has had one repaint. It looks nicer than it is but, it's not bad compared to some stuff I looked at. I wish I could sold my wife on a nice New Yorker but, this was a good deal especially with all the parts I got with it. Plus, the upgrades.
