LH HP exhaust manifold

Enough of a difference that I needed to extend my head pipes when I went from a 383 to a 440. It matters, hence a different manifold for the raised height of the RB engine.

Did you post it here? Only the pictures from the CL ad appear in this thread.
I posted a picture on this website. I will post both manifolds to compare. From what I can see, the difference is in the angle of the flange.. pretty much everything else looks the same. My Polara has the 2951216 manifold installed, and according to Glenn, the system is original to this car. It’s definitely a U code 440. It doesn’t touch the steering shaft, albeit close. not a lot of room. Maybe it’s because my car has manual steering? I don’t know why it would matter..

Ok, I went out and took pictures. These include a picture of the car, the engine, the manifold, and part of the factory exhaust system from the drivers side. You will note that the flange connection from the manifold to the pipe is just forward, and below the steering gear. I tried to get a picture of the casting number, but was only able to get part of it.. just no room. You can clearly see 5121 in the picture, obviously part of the 2951216 casting number. Sorry for the picture quality. If you are curious as to why the system is apart.. I am having new tailpipes made, and I had to take apart the system to work on it. This is a U code CHP 1971 Polara. This is absolutely a 1971 RB 440 HP engine with pad on top that has stamped HP.. externally balanced, with steel crankshaft and six pack rods.
