Looking to rebuild 383

I have a question, every time I look up a part for my 383 build, they ask me if it is a 383 from 68-71. I have one from 64. Could someone tell me the difference between the engines between those years? Thanks in advance.

Maybe you have the "RB" 383 (as opposed to low deck) 383? I'm not sure what year(s) that were though.

The RB 383 should be earlier than 64 59-61 I think as long as you have 6 bolt valve covers, the only real difference would be the small 1.60 exhaust valves and if you are changing the cam you will need pushrods from a 68 up availible new less than $100. If by some chance you have four bolt valve covers which is not original there is alot different

No I have do not have the raised block. I do have the 6 bolts on the valve covers. So I am assuming that the internals are the same.

The 'B' 383 started the run of 3,000,000 engines in 1960
