So, I have a question. I have a couple pieces (arm rest pads; windlace) in my car that are teal. Looking at Ditzler codes for interiors, it does not appear they have a code for these secondary parts (my interior is teal/black H4XP; see picture) as most of the metal interior parts in my car are black.

Question is: what have you done for these type of parts? I think the last time I checked, my local paint shop wanted a ridiculous amount to match colors. And since I don't need much (A full spray can worth would probably be too much as it is), it doesn't seem worth the cost. Also, I'm not sure about SEM or other interior plastic/flex coat paints having the mixtures to match anyhow.

On the upside, my seats are finished and turned out fantastic. $7000 job. Luckily Chris at VIP European Auto Interiors in Tempe, AZ stuck to his initial quote/word and "only" charged me $3K. Each one of those "pleats" is an individual piece of foam and then stitched. The pleated parts are done separately as inserts and then sewn into the exterior sections of vinyl. Just like the factory.

Your upholstery shop did a really nice job on the seats. Did you have to get the vinyl from SMS? You have a pretty uncommon interior color, which is great for the "cool" factor, but makes things more challenging for restoration.

Years ago SEM sold interior vinyl dye in about 100 colors, maybe more. If you coudn't find the exact color you needed, you could make what you wanted by mixing two together. That was 30 years ago, and looking at their website now, the choices are quite limited. Unfortunately, your teal was never used in the smaller Mopars, so it's not offered by the Mopar resto paint suppliers either. I did manage to find you a few possibilities:

The next two are GM, and look close, but you can't tell for sure by a picture on the computer. When trying to match interior color with a spray can, you can darken or lighten the color by first painting the parts white or black, then applying the right number of coats to get the desired shade.

Hey Jeff. Yes, I sourced original material (1 roll) and remade material for the other style from SMS. If you see my pic, despite it being the same color, there are 2 vinyl patterns.

I also got my headliner in OEM style material and my vinyl top pre-made from SMS as well. Everything is perfect.

I kinda figured SEM may not have the colors to get the correct color anymore hence why I was asking. Thanks for the links. I’ll check them out.

I can't tell. They look perfect to me in the picture.

SEM will match a color if you send them a good sample. They will send the formula to a local SEM dealer that can mix the paint. Buy a cheap Harbor Freight gun and with a little practice, you can spray anything yourself.

That's good news. Maybe they still sell all the colors that they used too. At tech school, we had a big stack of color samples, everything you could imagine, and lots of metallic colors too.

Well I’d have to send them an arm rest pad and/or a piece of windlace.

Tom, Space age, if they're still around used to match it up and put it in a spray can for cheap. Interior is looking good!

Space Age is the one who I believe wanted to charge me to match up the color.

Thanks!!
