"Must of been a lot of drunk idiots bidding....."

Drunk seller too! I've took the money and ran like the wind. What the hell was he thinking?

Probably gave $1500 for a trade allowance.

One for the Cop Car guys.

honestly:

I wouldn't give much for the auction result.
Heared from trustworthy sources that cars with reserve get sometimes run up till they are close to the reserve to catch for someone hiting the reserve.
If there is "real" money in the bidding they try it hard to get the "important" bid. If no serious bids out there auction can end very quickly.

Im not trying to p**s on anyone’s BBQ here but there’s SO many C Bodies I’d rather own than a Hurst 300.

Information I have gleaned from the net recently.

"The car auction is cut throat, dirty business and not for retail buyers."

:wideyed:

More C bodies at Mecum today

This 74 New Yorker got bid up to $8,000. No sale. I think that was all the money for this one. A little better detailing might bring up the value slightly if everything works on it IMO.

This is that 78 NYB that’s been kicking around for $20k+.... Nice but the color combo is killing it. White and green interior is just horrible IMO.

Beautiful Fury!!

This was an incredibly original Town&Country I will be following. Very low miles and completely original from what I could see. I got yelled at by the staff for touching it....

Fantastically well restored cars like this were fairly rare. Lots of beaters and flipper cars and really strange mix of cars for the first day without many of the usual suspects.

This 73 is right at the edge of restorable. Paint was fresh and thick..... and beginning to split on the cowl. Best thing about this one was that it looked to be very straight and have a fairly rust free body. I wouldn’t give more than $2.5k for it though. No sale at whatever it got bid to.... it was in the “after bid” area without notation. Update is that it got bid up to $3500 which puts me out.
Couple of different pics...wonder if it's going back to Hemmings or CL after auction? I'd rather talk to the seller after all the auction fee circus is over...too many bidder's fees drives the price up...

It fits in the Herd personality...not perfect..But, worth the effort to keep on the road and upgrade what needs fixing...

This blue 2dr shows the missing details, though the pinstripe is too much:

:realcrazy::realcrazy: What the Mecum site don't work on yer Tablet?

From the listing.
"Delivered new to Pettit Brothers Chrysler in Virginia
Believed to have been special order by Bill Pettit and kept in his collection for 23 years

Bill Pettit Chrysler Dealer Id card
Bill Pettit State of Virginia Franchise dealer license"

Now whoda'heck is he?

Search:
Bill Pettit and his father W.A. Claude Pettit owned the Pettit Brothers Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge-Jeep dealership and Museum of Motoring Memories in Natural Bridge, Virginia, for many years. The centerpiece of the Pebble Beach Auctions' Pettit Collection is the 'Blue J,' a renowned 1929 Duesenberg Model J Dual-Cowl Phaeton widely recognized for its incomparable styling, wonderful originality and signature blue livery.

Guess some famous collector. :poke: Are you?

Doc, my friend....

I laid eyes on this one and can tell you that there are better ones out there to consider for what’s being asked.

This pig is attractive only because of it’s fresh lipstick.

It’s at best a project I believe to be beyond what your used to. I’m sure she was much worse than Tina prior to the paint job. $2500 is all the money for this one IMO. And given the costs of the prettifying work done to her, it may be some time before it gets there. If she had the buckets and a console... maybe $3500. She’s a driver at best and a money pit at worst.

Again IMO.

Here are some more pictures I took of her.

She’s a fifty footer

Right front bumper guard is bent and so is the bumper and so is the supporting frame.

Improper paint prep revealing itself in hood finish blemishes.... bad primer????

Different view of above condition... also present on the Dutchman panel. Potential rust repairs of unknown quality.

Headlight trim is from a Newport, newyorkers get full chrome

Trim around right headlight is glued together from the broken bits of trim

Note crazing and panel “fit” on the front upper valence. At least someone found the Chrysler letters and put them back in..... with what looks like trim glue.

Misfit front from the whack this poor girl took.
