AL - Orioles and Angles have clenched and Tigers have increased their lead to 2.5 games and magic number to clench is down to 7
WC - As it sits today the WC would be 2 of Royals, A's, and Mariners. KC may have to play an missed game as it's that close. If they lose and wind up with a tie Seattle there would be a WC tie breaker then the winner would play one game to determine the official WC.
NL - Nationals and Dodgers have clenched .. Cards lead back up to 3.5 after last night and magic number to clench is dropped to 5
WC - Pirates and Giants as we sit this morning but the Beer Makers still have a shot at a WC berth
Best team record in baseball : LA Angels of Anaheim with 96 wins and a little over 7 to play
Worst team record in baseball: Texas Rangers .396 but battling to top the Diamond backs .400
Reds and Cubs fighting for 5th in the NL Central

Ya know Bryan....... there is a few reasons why I like you
Detroit needs to win or KC need to lose 6 or any combination of Tigers winning and Pirates losing that = 6 to clench their Division
STL need to win 4 or Pittsburgh need to lose 4 or any combination of Cards winning and Pirates losing = 4 to clench their Division
If the season were over today WC standings
OAK vs KC for 1 game and SF vs PIT 1 game WC playoff
winners will be the NLDS WC for each league

Wow, was last night emotional. Watched the Yankee game as it was Jeter's last home game. Being a Yankee fan since 1958 this was a must see. Saw Mantle's last game and to be honest more from the Mantle, Berra, Howard, Ford and Richardson era through Catfish and Reggie. Talk about providence with him coming up to bat with the winning run on second and he hits one of his typical in out swing singles for the walk off winning run. He says he won't be playing short stop at Boston the weekend. Then with Mariano, Jorge, Tino, Bernie, Andy and Joe on the field it was a send off only the Yankees can do. Now he will only play the field for the Old Timer's Game of which one of my patients plays in now and then. Have to see if I can get an autograph over the next few Old Timer's Games.

If the season were over yesterday WC standings ... although both Cards and Tigers are in danger of swapping places with the Royals and Pirates OR being caught and tied and then being forced into a 1 game Division playoff. Loser will then play a 1 game WC play-in game .. very scary thought so I hope this does not happen!

You're right, those are stunning! Tigers got it handed to them yesterday and they're not doing much better tonight so it would be nice if KC were to lose.
Brewer's blew it and won't be in post season play.
Yep. Tigers and Cards both blew the chance to clench last night.
However the bright side is .....
Tigers/Cards win and Royals/Rats win = Tigers/Cards win respective division
Tigers/Cards lose and Royals/Rats lose = Tigers/Cards win respective division
Tigers/Cards win and Royals/Rats lose = Tigers/Cards win respective division
Tigers/Cards lose and Royals/Rats win = Tigers/Cards play Royals/Rats for Div tie breaker
No outcome puts Tigers/Cards out of Division lead today
Only one of the 4 above results could lead to that outcome but requires another game.
For the Cards/Tigers not to make it to the NLDS as a Div winner or a WC would require the Cards/Tigers to lose 3 more games

The way they've played the last two....
I haven't seen the Tigers games lately but it has been frustrating to see Cards struggle against the worst teams in the NL the past few weeks. But on the bright side the Cards are the only N.L. team with a winning record (39-33) v. .500 or better opponents.
Washington is 23-23, the Dodgers are 26-33, Pitt is 33-39, and San Fran is 27-31.
After today the Cards will not play anymore sub .500 teams so YAY !!!

It was inevitable unfortunately Bob. They have been playing < .500 in every month since May. They had a great Apr to start off, and OK May and a losing record in Jun-Sep
