A BRONX TALE
1968 -- An army tank was abandoned on a city street near the Bronx entrance to the Throgs Neck Bridge. Nobody reported it missing, and the neighborhood kids enjoyed playing on it all weekend when someone in the NYPD realized this was a REAL tank. They contacted the army who had an "Oh ****" moment. Nobody noticed one of their tanks was missing. The police tracked down the tractor trailer driver who admitted leaving the tank over a labor dispute. Not a smart move. It took the city and the army another day to figure out how to haul it off the Bronx streets.
