Plymouth, led 158 laps of the 200 lap NASCAR Grand National Series race. Jim Paschal finished second in Lee Petty's #42 Petty Engineering Co. Plymouth with Joe Weatherly in Bud Moore's #8 Pontiac, Jimmy Pardue in his #54 Pontiac, and Tommy Irwin in the Wood Brothers #21 Ford rounding out the top five.
Buzzie Reutimann, Florida racing legend and father of future Cup Series race winner David Reutimann, made his only career NASCAR start in this event. He finished 10th in the
#22A Chevrolet, a 1960 model.
