My $500 1972 New Yorker Brougham

I know I give it so I'll always man up and take it when called for. When I screw up, I'll say I did, say sorry, and move on remembering what I did. I may screw up a lot but rarely are any of them twice. So, a funny came out wrong. No one to blame but myself for not making the humor obvious to everyone. Ok, my friend???

I'm just curious how my accidental double entendre constitutes poor grammar as you say. Anyway, Ill get some more pics of the car soon. I put a new fuel pump and filter on the car and it wants to run but needs a tune up. I ordered some plug wires and a distributor cap. I have a good rotor that I didnt use on another project. Should smooth right out and idle smooth. Then just need to get a new neck welded on the radiator and patch the fuel tank. Should be ready to drive after that.

I would replace the thermostat and all the hoses while you got the cooling system apart. Save yourself a headache down the road.

Keep us posted......pictures too.

The cooling system is definitely on the list. Its got all the factory original spring clamps everywhere. Not one worm drive clamp on the entire vehicle. It needs belts too. The ones that are on there are dry rotted. So far so good though.

While we're at it.....take a look at the tire production date if you haven't put new tires on her. I wouldn't drive on them if they are 8+ years old.

I have come to like the spring clamps

The clamps are starting to grow on me too. Ive been considering getting a reproduction set. It definitely needs new tires. The ones that are on there are not in the greatest shape.

They were used by the factory for the sole purpose of expediency on the production line.
No over or under tightening.
SNAP. It's on. Next.........

They used fine thread Philips head screwed ones on the Opel/GM assembly line over here these days, think they were even produced in the factory; no need to spit out a million cars per year in 60s Germany. :)

Found a reproduction set on ebay for like 12 bucks. Gonna have to give them a shot. Mine could probably be cleaned up and look ok but they're still probably 40 years old. No need to gamble on their tension when I can grab a set so cheap.

Spend the money just to get the correct shoulder washer and bolt.
The rest is TruValue stuff you can do.

Ill get some pics when I get home this evening before I pull the radiator out.

Here are a couple I snapped real quick before I took the radiator out.
