You know... The stub frame/sub frame controversy is really what lead to y'all getting your asses kicked out of here by a bunch of farmers in the 18th century. It had nothing to do with taxation without representation.

It's a Chrysler vs. everybody thing, like "sure-grip" vs. "posi-traction". Lots of people say sub-frame as well, usually in reference to Ford/GM and late model.
But I suspect the reasoning was because the part in question extends under the driver's seat, so it's more like the "stub" of a separate frame, whereas on a ABE-body, it only carries only the engine and suspension.

I was wondering whether you have any plans for the vinyl top. The top on Buttercup, a 1972 NYB 2dr that I recently acquired, needs redone -- and since our tops are both the same V1Y vinyl, I am looking for pointers.

I couldn't help but notice how similar your car looked to mine in the pictures. Beautiful car, BTW!
Although I'm a "back to factory" kind of guy, I'm thinking I might be changing the top to black. As you can see, I peeled the middle section off to see the condition and It's pretty good.
Just one spot to address.
Yours looks to be in really good shape. I do have people suggesting to paint it and be done with it. Are you thinking vinyl, same color?

I am indeed thinking of going back to the same color, which I think goes extremely well with GY4. I have even more reasons to stick to the gold vinyl rather than going to black, because I have seen 1972-1973 yellow/gold two-doors with a black top and, to my eyes, that top color makes the car look much heavier-looking. Here is an example of a GY4 1972 that, AFAIK, ended up parted (Edit: more 2012-2013 photos here, and while there is a lot of rust I am not sure about that Nebraskan NYB's ultimate fate):
and an example of a 1973 in the exact same color combo you'd have:
I am running into issues getting a V1Y top, however, which is why I posted my question. Here is the thread I've started on the topic.

Huh.... I see what you're saying. Never thought it would but I agree with the two examples you've provided. I was thinking it would go with the black trim. Thanks for the examples. Maybe paint the top gold.
Keep us up to date with what you get done. I was looking at SMS but have read here that there is a long wait.
Buttercup needs some minor rust fixed at the bottom of the rear window. When @71Polara383 deals with it, I’ll ask him to repaint the top in GY4 (I don’t ever want rust underneath the vinyl) and will take pics at that time. That’ll offer an extra data point.

Yea, the guy had put this dual exhaust on right before he sold it and had planned to cut them back and put chrome tips on but didn't. I've left them mostly b/c I've had more pressing issues to address. People do point them out often. I think it makes the car seem longer (if that's possible).

Both of our cars seem to have had a small rust issue at the exact same spot. I have posted photos of @71Polara383's repairs in the Buttercup thread, starting here. I am in the process of ordering the V1Y top material from SMS -- I have sent you a PM in that context.

Update - After 9 MONTHS of waiting, my new top is in from Newstalgia.... Yes, I went with the black top. My roof is repaired, sanded, and primed and ready for installation. I'm so excited for spring to get here to get the following done and the final phase started -
- New headliner, soundproofing, carpet, seats, and speakers installed.
- Pull the engine & trans and send them off to get rebuilt
- Install the replacement stub frame and replace the bushings
- Rebuild the front end
- Throw 4 new tires on
- Re-install drivetrain
Other than these things, the car is ready to go
