My D440 project

Not doing too good. Trunk is spinning bad. 60 ft way off. The deep staging is helping. Decent lights. Next I’m going to see how far I push that red bulb. The air is terrible. 80% humidity 80 degrees. 0 breeze. It’s pretty muggy.

Oh & I did something stupid. Driver rust in full effect. I’m sure I had people thinking i was a rookie. Heck even I’m laughing about it

Trying to stage when over the line?
No not that. This track is an 1/8th mile & has a very short shut down & a short burn out box. Looks like they squeezed this track in between the road & a cornfield. First time I’ve ever been to it. The track worker helped me back into the water & pull out. Gave me the signal to burn out. I don’t have a line loc & I leave the column shift in drive. It did a darn good burn out & was starting to pull forward & getting crossed up. I started to correct & feathered the throttle. And straightened the truck up but had gone out way to far in the process. I was almost up at the tree. So I put it in reverse & was backing up looking out my drivers window for the stage beams. It’s dark & again not familiar with the place. So I’m backing up & I don’t see the beams. Starting to have a WTF moment. Also not paying attention that I was not backing up straight as I didn’t have the truck perfectly in the groove. The track worker seeing that I was confused came to my aid & motioned me to keep backing. That’s when I realized I was a clutz & finally I saw the yellow lights on the tree flash as my rear tires crossed then my front. Then the track worker then pointed to the ground at the center guard rail. He was trying to show me where the beams were located. I’m looking & STILL don’t see them ? Most tracks have an exposed box & the beams are illuminated. Finally I saw a shoebox size opening in the guard rail & two very faint lights. I’m like damn, there’s the damn things. Believe it or not I’m not rattled. I’ve always had good composure at the starting line. I see the truck is not quite lined up like I’d want but I staged anyway. Rolled in deep as planned & cut a .051. Not too shabby first time deep staging in 10 plus years. Truck spun badly & it shift into second way too early (2300 ish) and traps at around 3800 ish. It clicked off a 2.32 60 foot & a 9.83 1/8th mile. Very disappointed with that. Precious best at VMP was 9.34 with a 2.13 60. It was very muggy. My glasses kept fogging up. Right decent track they have there out in the cornfields. That burnout box is 30 feet from the starting line. If you remember the tv show American Pickers when they went to that old AMC dealership that still had a lot of the cars just sitting in the weeds. That’s where this was. A little agg town called Pikeville. I believe the whole town was at the track & saw me make a clutz of my self. About 600-700 on hand. The place was packed. Not much room for too many more trailers. The shut down is the shortest of any track Ive been to. Anyway I’ll take the Nittos off the truck today. I’m done with this experiment. I’ll focus on FURYIOUS. This will be my one & only outing this year. I guess I’ll spend next year sorting out the bugs on FURYIOUS

well on mine 63 sfgc , we turned all the suspension bolts to they just , hold it in place . but aloud rotation . free'd up that nose , it rose to any throttle , even on the street . and the strut rods would rattles the washers , back sides back'd way off . had the reset them after the burn out back up although , just a short hop n brake to set the front rubber for the blast , lol .
