My fleet of Neon promos

As far as I know this is all of them, the two emerald are different (one Dodge the other Plymouth), same with the Nitro (lime). Were there both Plymouth and Dodge on the other colors? I don’t know.

Interesting collection of "Chrysler's little car that could (and did) . . ." A car that seemed to be just another small car, but a good one, that was designed by some younger Chrysler engineers (who happened to be serious auto-crossers) to be an economy car AND also a highly-competent auto-cross competitor. Which took the top 10+ places in its SCCA "parking lot racer" class the first year! The Miata people were "very displeased", to say the least. The Miata owners needing the addition of SCCA-legal "trunk kits" to be competitive, again, after several years of being "Neon-d". LOL All before the "class racer" models came out! Great litle cars. A great collection of them on display, there!!

Mine were a three car boxed set. Same colors as yours. The company offered the Cirrus and Stratus models also.

I also have most of the Promo Neons. I also have couple of the "neon" stands that came with them. Had a few of them as daily drivers over the years, and they are fun for an econobox. Had a Nitro Yellow Green Sport coupe DOHC five speed that I did all the Mopar Performance upgrades to. Great car to toss around, and not enough power to get things out of hand.
You do have the full collection, minus the "unreleased" Strawberry coupe. There are a couple pre-production ones that have surfaced, but they sell for stupid money.
Cool to see them all, and I will say the prices for them have creeped up a bit over the past few years.

Somewhere I have one of the display basses.
I have doubles (and triples) of all but the white, the blue and the Dodge emerald green.


I had two Neons a 94 (95) Sport and a 97 DOHC Sport, both 4-doors. When i got the first one they had just come out, the 2-door wasn't available yet along with the Nitro green as well as the DOHC.

I refer to my 95 as a 94 as the Neon sports that came out in January were different than the ones that came out in the Summer with the normal releases. Notable difference were, no road wheels, lack of the power bulge hood, no spoiler, all standard once the normal release came out. Some of the items that became available that summer were the 2-door, DOHC, leather interior, confetti print upholstery and the Nitro green color.

I believe I have the real life version of this one:

I'm torn as to what to do with this car. Back in 2007 I found it sitting in a junkyard on top of a pile of gravel with a seized water pump and busted timing belt. I bought it for $400, installed a used 2nd gen engine with only 17K miles on it and sold the car to a friend. Shortly after that we converted it to a 5 speed and since then it racked up another 120K miles. My friend just bought a new Ford Escape and I now have the Neon back. First gen Neons are quickly vanishing from the American landscape and it would be worthwhile to preserve one. I could certainly find a better example for not much money, but this one does have some sentimental value, though it is fairly rough. It's got some pretty bad hail damage along with rust in the right quarter and rocker. The car was in excellent shape when I sold it to him in 2008, but time, road salt, a hail storm, and multiple fender benders have taken their toll on it. I do have a good DOHC hood, fender, and trunk lid w/spoiler in my parts collection, which would fix much of the hail damage, along with a fog lamp front bumper cover.

Should I follow up "Minivan Madness" with "Neon Nonsense" and bring this one back from the brink, or wait for a better one to come along?

Ahh the Neon. My first car. 95 White 2-door Plymouth Hi-line.

SO much fun in that car. I would love to find another one in good shape.
