Thanks Bob!

in the spirit of giving credit where credit is due(and swallowing a bit of pride) I just got a call out of the blue from Newp who has been following along and saw that I had installed my rocker assemblies. He just wanted to make sure that I had installed the shafts properly so that they were directing oil like they should. I was careful to be sure that the oil passages for the rockers were facing down but didn't take the time to check the fsm to make sure that that they were oriented properly as far as being 15 degrees off centerline of the shaft bolts. I had in fact installed at least one of them improperly which would have caused me some problems down the road. I am now going to go pull the other side back off and check them as well. He also informed me that these one year only pushrods may not work with the new tappets and that I may need to replace these as well.
All I have to say is thanks Mike! You potentially saved me some time, money and aggravation that I would have likely experienced sometime after I got back from Carlisle.

Acquired the correct pushrods, got exhaust manifolds back on and hooked up, fuel pump on, hung the alternator and got the vacuum canister behind the carb back on. Been restoring all the parts as I go.

Oh I don't know about that Dave. This car is spectacular to me and very interesting as a largely unrestored piece but it's not a low mileage survivor or a beautifully restored example. I'm not quite sure how it'll be received but I appreciate your confidence.

Matt, I've seen your Imp...........

and it is a "Survivor"!!!!

There won't be a person at Carlisle that won't pass by your Imp without making a minimum of TWO laps around your beauty!

Yep. They'll be there standing in for The Council who prefer to continue maintaining a low profile.

Thanks, for the Thanks Matt... Happy to help whenever I can.

I wonder how many others here might not know about the proper alignment of the 15 degree oiling holes? And that all 1967 and prior B and RB engines have the small end and big end push rods.

:eek:ccasion14:

That's exactly why, regardless of the next step that I know how to do, I STILL keep the book open to that page and check off the items as I go.

Absolutely, I have 2 sets of FSM's. One set stays in the car and the other set in the house for reading and reference.

Actually my understanding is that the pushrod thing was one year only.
I have had the fsm right here on the bench the whole time, it was an equal amount of overconfidence and ignorance that if it wasn't for Mike would have bit me.

All 1967 and prior B and RB engines have the same push rod type that you have with a big and small end. 1968 and up have the same size on both ends of the push rods.
