Hello everyone,
My 1971 New Yorker has had its 4966S Carter removed due to age and some mechanical repairs being done on other areas also.
I took the linkages and air horn off the carb for inspection and cleaning. With the help of pictures from a rebuild kit, internet info etc I have been able to reassemble 95% of the unit, however the piece in the picture has me stumped. I can’t see it in any pictures of similar Carter/Edelbrock units, despite looking at about 30 different pics and angles. Any ideas where it goes. The hole matches up well with a similar sized one below the choke lever/shaft point, and looks like it has an identification of 3A439, but some wear has occurred so this may only be a guide. As always, all input is very much appreciated.
Regards

That part locks out the secondary carb linkage w/ the choke activated. Its located behind the fast idle cam.

A very big THANK YOU to Vaanth and David Hill for their replies and pictures. That has immediately solved my carby rebuild angst.
You fellas are so helpful!
A forum like this one not only helps with the mechanical and car queries and questions that we may have, but also provides men with that mental health support and therapy that seems to have dropped off a lot within society, in the last 20-30 years or so.
Best wishes to all.

I think I will go and sit in my good old ‘72 Fury Gran Sedan and turn on the radio for a bit of old school music…..

Then annoy my neighbours with a few good revs of its 400 big block Ma Mopar engine!

No doubt about it, I will feel a whole lot better then!!
