It's obvious that it was in some sort of custom application at one time, although I don't know what it was.
The original engine, (which was included in the deal), was a 66 425 CID that had frozen and cracked the water jacket.
The remanufactured engine, (in the picture), is a 1960 364 CID engine, and although they are both nailhead designs there are some parts which don't interchange.
I already know the nailhead guru's and have learned a bunch from them. I've sourced everything needed to put this combo in running condition and it won't take much. I'm leaving that to the next owner.
I agree, six strombergs, or even just three, would look much better then the dual quads. I checked and a three deuce manifold, restored Stromberg's, linkage, fuel lines and air filters will set ya back close to 2K.
Four Weber 48IDA's have a great look. Their two bbl.'s with individual stacks that look a lot like a Hilborn injection unit.
They are some awesome carbs with a wicked sound when WOT.
One of the wildest rides I remember was in a Auto craft cobra with a 379 Roush "C" engine equipped with four of these webers and an Art Carr powerglide trans, line lock and a 250 HP nitrious setup.
