Name that girl

well that fresh faced 10 year old does look like the 100 year old that recently died --- but only because i know her. i cant tell from that while any of us can miss her in a movie, i am sure we saw her on tv in one or three multiyear shows that were popular. all still in reruns after over 40 years. two are still relevant and one just kinda silly and campy looking back at the original (it was remade again in the streaming era to some success.)

hint: She was in a Rawhide episode with this guy. recognize him? looks funny with a Smith&Wesson vs. a phaser.

in another one, she took over for a main character who died in real life unexpectedly (she had lung cancer but died suddenly) during the show's run. rather than cancel the show, the network tried to replace the old matriarch with this lady in the late 60's. to me, it didnt work and two years later show was canceled.

anyway, hope she comes to you. answer tuesday.
McCoy!

yeah thats like seeing Shatner ham it up on Twilight Zone before he went where no man has gone before and became a big star! all those folks had jobs before ST. i have only seen Nimoy and Kelly on other stuff though.

Guess they all were are lucky (main cast not the guest stars like Montalban, who were already stars) Roddenberry came along.:-)

I think all of the Star Trek leads were doing this (acting) prior.
Here’s what Scotty (Doohan) was up to:

In 1946, he had several roles for CBCradio,[16] starting January 12. For several years, he shuttled between Toronto and New York as work demanded. He made his TV debut as a detective on the show Martin Kane, Private Eye, and appeared in 54 episodes. He estimated he performed in over 4,000 radio programs and 450 television programs during this period,[17]and earned a reputation for versatility.[18]

In the mid-1950s, he appeared as forest ranger Timber Tom (the northern counterpart of Buffalo Bob) in the Canadian version of Howdy Doody. Coincidentally, fellow Star Trek cast member William Shatner appeared simultaneously as Ranger Bill in the American version. Doohan and Shatner both appeared in the 1950s Canadian science fiction series Space Command.[16]Doohan also appeared in several episodes of Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicansin 1957–58.

For GM Presents, he played the lead role in the CBC Television drama Flight into Danger (1956) by Arthur Hailey, then in The Night they Killed Joe Howe (1960).[19](Arthur Hailey rewrote the former into the novel Runway Zero-Eight, then adapted to Terror in the Sky. This story was later satirized in Airplane!.)

Doohan's credits included The Twilight Zone (Season 4, Episode 3 "Valley of the Shadow" - 17 January 1961), GE True, Hazel ("Hazel's Highland Fling" as Gordon "Gordy" MacHeath). The Outer Limits, The Fugitive, Bewitched, Fantasy Island, Magnum, P.I., The Man from U.N.C.L.E.(Season 1, Episode 4 "The Shark Affair" - 1964 - and Season 2, Episode 20 "The Bridge of Lions Affair, Part 1" - 1966), and Bonanza. In the Bonanza episode "Gift of Water" (1962), he co-starred with actress Majel Barrett who would later play Star Trek's Nurse Christine Chapel. He played an assistant to the United States president in two episodes of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. He had an uncredited role in The Satan Bug (1965), appeared in the Daniel Boone episode "A Perilous Passage" (1970), appeared as a state trooper in Roger Vadim's film Pretty Maids All in a Row (1971, which was produced by Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry), and played opposite Richard Harris in the movie Man in the Wilderness (1971).[17]

Doohan also acted on stage, including Every Bed Is Narrow(1956) Bright Sun at Midnight(1957) and King Lear(1960) on the Crest Theatre in Toronto.

2,527. everybody seems to be getting her so I'll just end game now. The lady is June_Lockhart.

Mom in Lassie for 6 years, Mom in Lost in Space for almost four years. you couldn't be a kid in the 1950's and 1960's usa kid without running into her in something on TV/series or guest star on something else. Lassie, Lost in Space, and Petticoat Junction were very popular shows when they were on TV.

New Game.

This one kinda easy if you lived through the 1960's and 1970's. Actor, born in NY.

i thought this woman should have been a bigger star. She was pretty and versatile. The distinctive voice was natural. She died in 2008 at age 70. Picture is early in her career so mid 1950's. (1956, she was 20 years old).

Some would argue what she was mostly known for - tv or movies. I loved and knew her in both mediums. Films first then TV early 70's. in a beloved sitcom which ran for 6 years named for its comedian co-star.

Again, easy to get by face so going bit lighter on the verbal clues.

She had several memorable parts the ones referreed to here were supporting but important character Annie Hayworth in Hitcock's the Birds in 1963 and then the tv wife of Bob Newhart in 1972's Bob Newhart Show.

She also had a naturally deep, husky voice, for a woman, that was unique and made her versitle/credible in a variety of roles.

Quess she was like "Veronica" or "Mary Anne" to me. I liked the dark haired women as the sexy girl next door. Never a big star, she did work steadily for nearly 50 years including voice work. She died of lung cancer complications in 2008.

Neat. Never watched a single episode of Newhart’s shows.
i never watched Newhart either but know its was one of tv's most successful franchises ever. actually two shows, with the series sending with a dream sequence with Pleshettte guest staring in a surprise episode that ranks as "best ever" in some minds.

As a side note on Suzanne Pleshette, her third and last husband was none other than "George" (Tom Poston) from the Bob Newhart Show. They married late in their lives but had previously dated way back in the late '50's well before they were both on the Newhart show.

Until yesterday, I never knew that they were married. (Fun fact for me!)

There was an alternate ending that was filmed for "Breaking Bad" where Bryan Cranston woke up next to Jane Kaczmarek from "Malcolm in the Middle".

"The Bob Newhart Show" where Newhart was a psychologist in Chicago came before "Newhart" where he was an inn keeper/writer in Vermont. Tom Poston played the handyman George on "Newhart".
