Repeat from several years ago. That game was interrupted by "politics", but we've moved past that stuff over the years. There's a whole FCBO section if one wants to get into that now. We'll see how it goes.
Born 1932, died 2011. Actor. British by birth.
Not any old performer, but old time Hollywood royalty. One of the most photographed people ever, in any profession, let alone one of the most famous actors -- ever.
One of the first "superstar" performers, launching a trend in star coverage that exists today.
A star in her teens, owned the profession for the entire 1950's and about half of the 1960's. Was she talented I dunno. She was a striking lady, dark hair and violet-blue eyes .. you could tell why men loved her and women wanted to be her.
She won professional honors .. Oscar, Golden Globe, British equivalents, and many "lifetime achievement" honors. Lotta nominations for things that she didn't wind up winning in the end.
Cannot say I was ever a fan, and by the time I was paying attention to movies, she was in her mid-late 30's with most of career behind her . Not "old", but "old" by Hollywood actress standards of the day.
Tabloid fodder her entire public life, for her collection of husbands (one guy - twice), to what some saw as her "controversial" activism.
The last 30 years of her life she acted sparingly, however, she DID did hawk very successful perfume and jewelry brands, and an odd relationship with the "King of Pop".
I knew her more for that ancillary stuff than her movie career, which again was quite prolific. So, verall, I mostly knew of her from publicity (good and bad) about her, versus her work as an actor.
I think she's recognizable by face given her professional body of work, and a rabid media following until the day she died.
here below at ages 8 and age 14.
Confirmation end of day Friday.
