Hey there so I have a 1966 Plymouth fury vip hardtop I believe, however acccording to the f.s.m. I have the codes on the plate that don't match the given options. See pics attached. The second digit price class code is "s" but that is not a listed option. Also there is a g in the code but there is nothing in book about that can anyone tell me what they mean or direct me to the code list for body options?

The P is Plymouth, S is for VIP, G for the 383 engine. The Dodge factory service manual shows F for 383, but the Chrysler Parts manual shows F for 361, and G for the 383. 2 was for Hamtramck, 575th car of c bodies off the line.
As Dettmatt and 65 500 said, early build to say the least.

If I'm not mistaken a PS in 66 would be a VIP, G is a 383-4

I know for a fact the 67 Plymouth manual had multiple typos on the engine codes
E-318 should be E-273-4
F-318 not listed
H-426 should be 383-4
J-440 should be 426
K-Special Order V8 should be 440
L-440HP not listed
M-Special Order V8 not listed

Yeah thanks I thought a few options were missing.

True to be confusing between manuals. My Dodge book shows G to be 383, no reference to four barrel. My Polara two Barrel is a G, and my Factory 66 Charger four Barrel I sold was also a G for the 5th digit. . However, the old Manuals would bounce back and forth between B and C body applications, lots of typo's as Moparchp
said.
It went from 318 to 383, as no reference to a 361 is in my Polara service book. But the B body Plymouth, and Charger did have the 361. It is confusing, for sure. I scrapped a 66 Belvedere 361 years ago that had the F in the dash.

Below was according to the 1966 Mopar Blue Parts Book.

1)273 2 bbl=D
2)273 4 bbl=D+ Code on fender tag designating (4 BBL HP)
3)318 2bbl =E Poly head Engine
4)361 2bbl =F Big block
5)383 2 bbl =G Big block
6)383 4 bbl = G + (Code on fender tag for four Barrel))
7)440 4bbl =J
8) 426 =H
9) Special order =K

1967 Parts Book

1967 all 273=D
1967 no more 361 engines.
1967 all 318=F(No more Poly head engines)

Sorry this deviates slightly from the post, but it will help the OP understand his VIN better.
If his fender tag has the code for four Barrel, then that is a rare and valuable find on a full size Plymouth, and being a VIP. Nice car Indeed!

Great Post!!! I was wondering the same thing with my vin. What would the code for the four barrel look like on the fender tag? I have a G in my vin and its the 383, but it has a two barrel not a four. I don't know now if it originally had a four and it was changed to a two or not. I'm trying to read the fender tag, but it appears to have several coats of paint on it and is hard to read.

The '66 factory service manual is incorrect in the engine listings. The '67 has two errors, as well.

I've never heard them referred to as a "Blue" parts book before.
