Where the hell does the throttle cable attach correctly, been trying to get it right for 2 days now, theres a hold down on the side of the bracket that holds the throttle linkage rod running to the transmission, a picture of this bracket with the cable in it would be PERFECT.

I think that is all I need for info right now.

I appreciate it guys.

Fred ( Fratzog) has a beautifully detailed engine bay that could show you what you need on a 318

The picture in 70cats post looks like a 2 to 4bll swap, the kickdown linkege has a nut and bolt to adjust the kickdown, the throttle cable is looped over the kickdown rod that may work but is incorrect in my opinion, and it's also missing the spring that holds the kickdown forward, they sell an extension for the kickdown but I just weld in an inch piece of bolt to extend it,and I looked for a 4 bll throttle cable and an offset bracket from a newer bigblock with cruse control that will position the cable closer and alighn it with the carb,,our parts are hard to find but with a bit of research and looking at pics it's not to hard to make it right

dale is right. i didn't notice the cable over the kickdown. mine are side by side.if that link you posted is what your bracket looks like it is different from mine. mine has a U shaped piece on top that the kickdown rests in. as far as the cable, it just gets pinched between the bracket and the small tab on top. whichever side works to give you full range of throttle without binding.
