NEW DASH PAD FROM ABCMOPARTS

I do but if its $800 USD, that becomes $1080 Canadian, then add 13% tax and its a $1220 dash pad. Haven't even shipped it yet. Still I am grateful that I have the option. I think my car is better suited to a good used one as I am not doing a resto.

set it up that you can grab it at Carlisle in July. Bring your core with you

Does anyone know what it looks like in the VIN area of the dash pad? I know this is a difficult spot to get to look right - the originals are nice and crisp in this area and every E body dash pad I've seen is really rounded and not crisp at all - but hopefully the ABC dash pad is better in this area. Any one seen what a VIN tag looks like in this area? Does it look good? The rest of the pad looks decent for sure.

I'll try and take a photo of my pad. I'll be putting it together soon, which includes reinstalling the VIN tag.

Did you get one of the new repops? A review would be nice when you get the chance.

Dave
Yes, I got it from Bob at ABCMoparts. In fact, he dropped it off at my house, which was convenient. I'll take some pics when I get the time. Been busy trying to get this car cleaned, repaired, and back together....

He needs your core to refoam and recover in factory color

Here is a picture Bob sent me

I just received this photo of the latest version of the 1972-3 reproduction Dodge/Plymouth dashpad from Bob. It shows a pretty good shot of the VIN indentation area, and it looks very good in terms of crispness compared to the originals. I also noted that when having to transfer a VIN plate from one of my 1971 Dodge Polaras from the original pad to the reproduction one from ABC Moparts at the time, that area was very comparable to the original one (and that area is virtually the same between 1970-73, and in comparing this latest photo to the original pad in my 1973 black Monaco wagon, it looks virtually the same in crispness from the angle I can see in this photo. Seeing it in person will confirm it surely soon, and I will provide an update unless someone actually receives one before me. You will need to blow this photo up quite a bit to see that area more clearly in this reproduction pad.

Your Polara has already been in my driveway once... drive down, swap it at my house, cross the border in Windsor. It's not like the customs guy is going to say "hey... that dash was cracked when you left Canada..."

Good question Dave, but I was referring to the crispness of the lines around the opening - I can check on my original pads later today to compare.

:stop: AND just how many 71 Polaras do you have anyways?

Yes, Dave, you are correct, as the 70-71s are hardly recessed at all, much like the E bodies that were mentioned in another post in this thread. The 72-73 pads are several times more recessed. Photos below of factory original pads:

My 1970 Cuda (E body) - unclear because photo taken through windshield, but shows similar recessed area as Dodge/Plymouth 1970 - 71.
