I grew up hanging around this building where Sheldon,Joey, his dad Tom and I would work on the old Model A's.
Next to my Aunt and Uncle,Tom was one of my mentors and influences for getting into old cars.
Tom operated a barber shop connected to the house and was the hub of the community.
Tom passed four years ago and now Joey kept the cars we all worked on.
Thirty years ago,Tom took me to car shows. I did not have a car of my own but had a collection of scale model kits.
He let me load them up in the Model A roadster and I would set them up on a table--all 35 or 40 of them!
Tom gave me a participant trophy which I had kept with me all this time.
Tom did not get to see the Boab. He died of a fatal heart attack before I could finish the car.
So the trophy rode in the BoaB back to Newfoundland and I placed it on his headstone with the family's blessing.
The family said he would be very proud of the work I put into my car.
The trains ran on narrow gauge tracks but got ripped up when the trains stopped running in 1988.
Here is the static display and museum of the Newfoundland railway..
I spent a lot of time behind the wheel and loved every minute of it.
My Aunt had many Mopars over the years and drove us kids everywhere.
Now she cannot drive since after her stroke.
Now it is my turn to drive her around.
We drove a round trip of 360 miles over two days to see relatives.
N
I stayed at my dad's for a couple days.
He is very proud of the work I have done.
He showed his pride to the neighbors.."He built her from the ground up...That's my son!"
It did rain while down there and after the trip to my dad's I cleaned the BoaB at Joey's detail shop which is also connected to the other side of toms barber shop..
The BoaB had no problem climbing all the hills in my old stomping grounds. not many flat spots mostly all hills.
Eventually we had to head back to the mainland..
A stop at my cousin's shop to top up the rear diff.
The pinion seal started to leak and topped her up for the trek back.
Nothing serious, she only needed half a bottle that lasted the 1500 miles.
Everybody gathered around to get a rare sneak peak of the BoaB's restored belly,LOL
