I'm Patrick. I've got a '78 NYB Salon that I bought from a guy in Iowa in February 2007 as a Valentine's Day gift to my wife...yes, it's hers! All options, except Auto-Temp, load-leveler, CB radio, leather & sunroof. We're the fourth owners of this war, which had 99,500 miles when I got it, and has 102,600 now. No, it's not our daily driver, as you probably figured out!

Welcome aboard!

My 78 NYB has the CB, load leveling, and leather.

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! Nice car, I like them when they're silver!

Not in Okalahoma................ !978 NY'er were equipped with 400's....a 440 was an option upgrade.

I thought the Newport had the 400 and the New Yorkers had the 440.... ??? I have never seen a New Yorker that didn't carry the largest engine available as the standard engine, and the 440 was the base engine from '67-'71 in the 300 also, and the TNT would have been an upgrade.

I will have to do some research now on the later C-Chryslers. I have had 4, and my uncle had a '76 or '77 New Yorker also.

77 Newport/400
77 Town & Country/440
77 New Yorker/440
78 New Yorker/440

That is true except for 1978 NY'ers.............400's was the standard engine and 440's were available as an option. High altitude NY'ers were equipped with 360's.

I didn't know the Imperial club also kept records on NY'rs. Surprising. I thought they were strictly- very strictly Imperials only...learn something new everyday.

The California emission NY'er had the smogger 360 also. A smogged out 440 was available in California emission cars as an option. I believe 400's were not available in California emission cars in 1978. Don't know why....maybe because the 400 is the only engine without an air pump. I can't believe the amount of emission crap is in my service manual for 1978 Chrysler's, especially the California emission cars.

My car is a 49-state 440 car, ordered new in NW Iowa, and had three owners there. Was in one of two neighboring counties for all its life, until I bought it. It has very minor rust behind both rear skirts, but is solid everywhere else.
