New Mad Max Movie just released!

I'll be the 1st to admit I can be a bit simple minded in my humor, maybe in other aspects of life too. I just find pro almost anything rediculous . How about pro-mind your own business or pro-quit whining about stuff that truly holds no bearing on your life or pro-get off your *** and do something about your life rather than pro-15 dollars an hour for screwing up my #4. I have a tendency to poke fun at things I don't understand......

Just because!

Don't worry, Hugh Keays-Byrne is back as "Immortal Joe":

Saw the flick at the weekend. Full on from the start, but just found it a bit odd. As with most modern films, story line and character development both thin on the ground.

The combo of the first two Max films packs a mighty punch. Hard to live up to. I still find the first film both edgy and disturbing. Timeless.
When I saw the first Mad Max the voices where all over dubbed with American sounding accents which I thought gave it a bit of a comedic edge to the movie . That was one of the reasons I fell in love with the film. There is nothing more entertaining than a low budget movie with really cheesy dialogue and bad voice overs. Can't get enough of the stuff. I did eventually get a chance watch the undubbed version.

The version of Mad Max released in Europe was the original Australian version. That is what I grew up with. When I found out that it had been over-dubbed for release in the US in 1980 (year after release in Australia) I actually couldn't believe it. So I checked it out on YouTube, and low and behold it had been. Whoever decided on that should have received a good kick up the arse quite frankly.

So yes, I can see how that initial viewing would have tainted your opinion of the movie.

Pro feminist or Dirty old man? lol Great Director regardless

They actually tried to shoot it here in Oz again, but the desert decided to be green recently, so they had to shift over to africa somewhere.

The Main ride is a Aust ford falcon coupe - not dissimilar to a couple of years of mustang or torino, a rusted bare shell is like $10k plus these days, when they blew one up in the original second movie there was many a cry of disbelief and anguish from cinema's across the land

The Baby shoe bouncing on the road from the first one haunts me to this day

I saw the first movie and The Road Warrior. Loved 'em both. :)

I never saw Thunderdome.

I like the Falcon XBGTs. To me, they look like a Torino body with a Mustang-ish front clip.

Does anyone know if the headlight, grille area on the black car was ever produced by Ford, or was that a custom nose for the movie car?

Nose was produced by a private company Arcadipane Products (Peter Arcadipane), marketed as the “Concorde” front end. I believe it was originally fitted to a custom Ford Falcon XB or XC van in about 1977 (filming of Mad Max started in October 1977). I got to see this van (or a damn good replica) a few years back at a show in Brisbane here in Queensland.

Here's a pic of the van from back in the day:

If there are any of you guys out there who aren't interested in being indoctrinated by a pro feminist movie I found an alternative!

I still liked the movie regardless. I'm one of those few individuals who likes that kind of stuff. I like a lot of the Troma movies such as " Toxic Avenger". I was completely obsessed by "The Road Warrior" when I first saw it. I must have watched it a million times over. That movie is what influenced me into building souped up cars to this very day.

Yes, Mad Max II was called The Road Warrior in the US (funny how they did stuff like that back then. Actually, a recent example of this is the 2001 Paul Walker movie "Joyride". It was called "Roadkill" in Europe).

During my first year here in Australia (2009), I actually took a road trip from Nowra to Silverton (both in New South Wales) purely to visit the filming locations of the 2nd movie. Quite easy to find after reading up on them - visited the spot where the opening scene was filmed and where the Mack truck rolled over at the end. Both are quite close to each other on the same stretch of road, about 4kms north of Silverton (Mundi Mundi plains).

Visited the bar in Silverton, where inside up on the wall were several polaroid pix taken of the cast during filming in 1981, still in their costumes, having lunch and playing cards. Very interesting.
