Hello everyone, new member here. Just bought a 1978 NYB, some of you have probably seen the ad on Kijiji or Hemmings. Got a decent deal, will pick it up in August. Just starting out in collector cars, and I come from a line of Chrysler guys. My paternal grandfather had a 1976 Newport Custom, maternal grandfather had a 1980 New Yorker Fifth Avenue (among other Chryslers over the years). Guess the 1978 is like meeting them half way.
The seller was the original owner, and has the original order sheet from dealer. The car was used for two years here in Alberta (little to no road salt in winter) and then stored away for 35 years. Less than 26000 kilometers on it, and it starts right up just like it was on the road yesterday. He has started it from time to time every year that it has been in storage. All original, except he has "had the sides painted to fix parking lot dings". Checked the rockers, the trunk wells, rear fenders - no rust apparent at all.
I look forward to learning and sharing with everyone as this project goes on.
