Picked up a 1968 Dodge Monaco 2dr ht 383 4bbl (orig 2bbl) on a craigslist search on a whim. The “story” was: Ordered new 1968 by his dad, family car driven to “deep” Mexico twice for family trips, handed down to son (late-eighties?), parked and tarped in 1995 after being a daily driver. Rebuilt to unknown specs early 90’s, bored pistons, pretty lumpy cam, torker single plane intake, Holley 4bbl 750CFM carb, Hooker comp long pipes, dual exhaust with flow masters. Basically the late-80’s- early 90’s bolt on performance package.
The car had all new basic tune up and There was a dodgy attempt at electronic ignition that was abandoned. I got it with original points distributor that was worn and torn. I got it running, ….. badly with battery and new electric fuel pump. The electric fuel pump had no safety telay, it was key on fuel on.
The car had all new brake kits but brake booster was blown, wheel cylinders leaked, distribution blocks leaked.
Intake manifold leaked. oil pan leaked, transmission pan leaked. ujoints were marginal. under dash and engine wiring was, … creative and dodgy in places but a lot of stock wiring left.
