Are you still using that place in Dayton ?

Yes going to pick up my parts tomorrow. One of the parts is the rear seat speaker surround, so now I can get my interior back together. Too nice of a weekend not to get Goldie out.

I've been wanting to take a "test" piece to them to plate to see how I like their work, but I haven't come up with a part that I either want to risk, or need plated, and still be detailed enough to get a good idea of their work. Your stuff looked good in the pictures that I saw, but I couldn't make out enough detail to feel comfortable yet. Your stuff just looked too good for the price. I'm just a little leery of platers, there aren't very many really good ones.

When it comes to plating, double the time they say it will take and add a week. That formula seems to work.

Also, photograph everything before passing it off to the plater.

I've had real good luck with my local plater, Sandy's Bumper Mart, but I always know not to be in a hurry.

Here is a couple of the pieces I had done. They look perfect. There are several piece on the '66 that has black paint laid for shadow detail. He has a great guy that shadowed both of these pieces.

They look great ! Was the console piece pitted up at all before you had it rechromed ?

I need new bumpers front and rear, and figured it would be a lot easier to have them sent directly to a plating firm. No reliable platers in Finland; one in Sweden. There's supposed to be a few reliable ones in Poland, but that's 1K miles south (if you can find them), and the shipping would amount to about the same as shipping from the US.

I would be amazed if there are 46 platers in Dayton, maybe 30 years ago, before the EPA stuck their business destroying noses into it.
I believe he uses this place.

For bumpers I would use someplace that specializes in bumpers, especially if yours need to be straightened. Not Bumper Boyz. I don't know if Metal Brite even does bumpers.

Shipping 2 bumpers to Finland ? OUCH !
Maybe they would let you take them on a plane as a carry-on.

Well the shipping is not so bad. In fact I had one rear bumper shipped over for my former ride. - Once I figure out a way to get the bumper freighted over to Lake Worth, FL, from there on it's a piece of cake. And really quite cheap. It's the US shipping that's might give trouble.

Thanks, yes it was pitted by far the worst of any metal on the interior and being one of my favorite accents in the interior, it was on the top of the list to re-chrome.

It was actually worse than my front bumper. I still haven't done the front bumper yet. It is on next winters re-chroming list.

It is Metal Brite. Here is his e-mail address barr.michael@sbcglobal.net I would highly recommend. Whole family owned operation Mike is the owner, his wife and son work for the business too. Take pictures, reference with a tape measure for smaller items. Refer also to any damage or rust. My rear bumper had some rust and a small dent turned out great.

All the chrome you see in the picture above was done 3 years ago. He told me the taillights were a real pain, they were in really bad shape I think he said he did 3 build ups of copper to get them looking great.

Thanks Mike ! Your stuff looks great, and the price you said you paid for 25 or 35 parts in another tread was really good. Most places just grind the **** out of a pitted pot metal part and just ruin it. I've got a ton of stuff for my '65 that needs to be replated, and my brother could probably come up with 5 times that much stuff. Some of my console parts are really nasty.

I would love to have the exterior chrome done on my Imp at some point along with the paint. I just had some stair railing parts that I fabricated nickel plated locally by a place that does some nice work. They do bumpers too but not pot metal. Norbrook Plating.

I looked at their web-site. Looked promising. And it's only 132 miles from Tiffin (Murray's place). I think I can make something out of this.

I talked to Murray Saturday 4/16 on the Sill plates. He said the first run should be in any day now.
FYI
