New Yorker 69 Bofy accent paint stripe

@saforwardlook since Fredrik asked for the correct location and curve of his accent stripe I am searching a non-vinyl 1969 Chrysler, but it is really, really difficult to get hold of pictures or cars with V7. Oliver's Newport Custom has taped accent stripes today but then he came up with vintage photos of the original owner and the one posted, where you clearly see how it curves. As long as I haven't seen another with a different stripe, I believe this is correct - at least for a 1969 Newport Custom.

a couple additional comments Georg, in the factory brochure I do not see any upper pin stripe on any New Yorker that isn't on the body character like you are showing in the light green car that is original you are showing.

And on the light green two door example (a Newport Custom) you are showing earlier in this thread, you show a pin stripe that is on the character line, so do you believe both can be correct?

I also agree that any photo in the brochure even is not clear enough to tell just how far up the side they go........................

I have the original brochure here as well and checked it already when Fredrik started this thread. It is very hard to tell where the stripes end - if at all. Take the F8 colored Newport 2dr HT for example. At the front of the fender you can barely percive a light green stripe but it somehow vanishes in the reflection of the rear quarter panel. I really think we can't take the brochure for reference in this case.

And yes, I don't know if accent stripes on Newports / Newport Customs /300s where in the same location as on New Yorkers or not. That's what we have to research. ;-)

Counter question: Is it unrealistic that different trim lines had different accent stripes?

All I can say with confidence is that when I started working for Chrysler in 1969 in Michigan at the tech center, I was aware that quality control reports from Jefferson were not good on the fuselage C bodies near the start of production, so decades later I am starting to see why.....................................................

This mess seems to have cleared up with the 1970 models at least.

Just checked my 1969 data book. First of all, accent stripes were not available on Newport and T&C. And - obvious - the fender tag reads V7X (black) not V7W (white). I will get in touch with Oliver again and hope that he may have some more photos. His Newport Custom is F3 with a L3G interior and Chrysler recommends accent stripe 2 (black).

@saforwardlook finding a Newport Custom (or Newport / New Yorker / 300) without V-roof but with V7 is pretty difficult - but this car is one. And the picture is from the early 70s. It got a repaint in the late 2000s and has taped accent stripes since then. But the original owner ordered it with the V7 and that was painted. Here is the fender tag:

And I can also confirm that the painted accent stripes on 1969 New Yorkers where also curved. This is a photo of a buddy's New Yorker and mine - a 4 dr HT - has exactly the same. Don't get confused with V6 longitudinal stripes.

But while we are at it: @Fredrik Scheffer the stripe on your New Yorker is taped, not painted, but in the place where I know it from V-roof New Yorkers. The stripe on the Newport Custom is below the light edge. But maybe it was located there on non-V-roof cars...

I really wonder about the V7X on his fender tag. It doesn't make sense ordering the car with V7X and then adding a white accent stripe a year or so later...

Im not sure but i would say painted. It is a rough color, almost with sort of grain in it.

Just wondering if you found a good example or info on how the V7x strip ends on the C pillar? I have a Q4 2 door, no vinyl top, I am finishing up and has v7x on the tag
