Newport Stripper

Do the painted upper door frames mean there is no chrome around the frames? I noticed there is one 69 Newport Custom Sedan on YouTube that has the frames painted but also has the chrome trim around the inside edge next to the side glass. I would assume all door frames are painted body color.

Has anyone EVER scene a 3spd manual fuselage Newport? I know it was standard in '71, but I've been asking for years and have never met anyone who's ever seen one. I've seen Polaras, and tons of Furys, but never a Newport.

Yes, if you search this forum you will find one or two, maybe three. The one that comes to mind is a 1970 Newport convertible that was for sale around 2018-2019 in the southern States, Georgia perhaps? It was black with saddle interior, possibly A/C being a southern car, I can't remember. I do remember it had no power steering, brakes or windows and did have a three on the tree. It was/is very unique.

I believe the door frames are coded to match the interior, or possibly roof colour.

The Newport Custom was a step up in the food chain from the base Newport model and yes the Custom got the bling around the door frames.

Holy smokes! They really do exist! Thanks for sharing. What a cool car- great color combo too. Sorry to see it went oversees. My only hope is that the new owner appreciated the rarity and proceeded accordingly.

Took a bit of digging, but I found the other one. This thread is before and after the actual ad I remember seeing, but is without question the same car. And I recalled somewhat incorrectly, it does have power windows, and that's about it.

What Were They Thinking When They Order This?
