Don't know if it matters or not, but the listing on eBay says that the reserve was not met. If that's just there to not go through eBay then OK, I get that. You would probably know more about it than I do anyways.

Good luck -- hopefully you can still score it you want it.

thanks.

when ebay reserve isn't met, sellers (and buyers) have a lot of options. everybody usually starts talking afterward trying to figure out if they can make a deal.

sometimes deal happens "on ebay", sometimes it doesn't go thru ebay, or deal doesn't even happen at all and everybody moves on to the next relist or whatever seller decides to try if its still for sale.

so i do not know the exact circumstances under which this car was "sold" but again I asked was politely told it was "gone", and "where" was going, and "what" it sold for.

I sold a nicer 72 Monaco on ebay a couple years ago. It was original paint, 440 engine, 30K miles and no cracks in dashpad, etc. It was in a word, mint. Back then, I got $12,500 for it. This car, if sold for around $10K, was about right, given what I could tell about it.

Seller was telling me about a mint 30k mile California car he saw on ebay a "couple years ago" that put the thought in his mind he had a rare but not-as-nice Monaco...probably it was yours.

I offered verbally $9,500 when it was at $9,000 and that was declined. I understand it didn't sell for $12,500 so that brackets it a bit.

I have some bad news about this one...the ebay auction is still up for some reason so you can check out the "before" pics....this one caught fire last week and was written off in Michigan. The owner was driving it to work and his best guess is that when he turn on the blower motor the poor thing caught fire and spread too fast for him to do anything about it. The car is an insurance write-off and should be at an auction sometime soon in Michigan near Detroit. Keep your eyes open.

Such a shame.

I would guess the owner scavenged those item before it went to the storage yard, since it was a write-off anyways.

As much as I love those models (one of my most favorite of all time), seeing this really hurts. And they are like hens teeth to find already. A real damn shame.

Seeing that makes me wanna puke. That is exactly why I have a fire extinguisher afixed to the tranny hump inside my car. No better example as why you wanna have one.
Esp. with mopars close to or over half a century old.

Absolutely HATE to say it. And it really bothers me to think about it.
Car for sale.
Car doesn't sell.
Car catches fire. . . .

I don't think this is the same owner that had it on E-bay. The car is in Michigan now but the E bay auction was in NY.
