1966 Chrysler 300

Just spotted this REAL NICE 300 over on Bring-a-Trailer, which leans towards imports, but has this one closing soon. If my fleet weren't already too big, I'd spring for it......

Gorgeous and look at all the extra tail light lenses!:wideyed:

This 1966 Chrysler 300 is finished in gold with a black vinyl top and matching leather interior showing 76k miles. Power comes from a mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission, and the seller has driven the car less than 1,000 miles since acquiring it through an inheritance earlier in 2018. This 300 was reportedly repainted under previous ownership and wears a non-stock set of wheels, though otherwise the car remains largely unmodified and is now being offered on behalf of the owner with a clean Oregon title.

Paintwork resembles (477) Dusty Gold Metallic, though the seller says the car was repainted under previous ownership. A black vinyl top, polished trim, bumpers and window surrounds, and a dual exhaust were all standard equipment.

Mastercraft whitewall tires are mounted on a set of 5-spoke Magnum wheels, and a set of “300” logo factory wheel covers will also go with the car.

The interior is finished in black upholstery, matching carpets, a padded dashboard, and two bench seats with seating for 6 passengers. Amenities include power windows, an AM radio, analog clock, and front and rear courtesy lights.

The rear of the cabin appears to retain factory appointments and upholstery patterns, and lap belts are provided for the rear occupants.

The 383ci V8 is linked to the rear wheels through a TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission. A 4-barrel carburetor has been installed by a previous owner though the original 2-barrel unit will be included in the spare parts package. Per the seller, there is no maintenance history or a list of replaced parts available.

A collection of spare parts including lighting lenses, 2 sets of wheel covers, spark plug wires, exterior trim pieces, and more will be included with the car.

It does look good. Some odd details in the ad text. 1966 Chrysler 300 standard engine was a 383-4bbl and single exhaust. The ad says the dual exhaust is factory, which is incorrect, and that the engine originally was a 2bbl. It could just be my monitor, but the engine colour looks off, blue instead of turquoise. I believe they started painting non-HP 383s blue in 1970, so this may have had a 1970 383-2bbl swapped-in. They also say it has bench seats, which it obviously does not.

Sold for $8100. Someone got a bargain IMHO. I could see this car being flipped with an asking price of double what was paid for it.

Your are right, engine should be turquoise. No 2BBL with legitimate 300. Has 300 trim on deck lid and hood. Suspect somebody put a 2BBL on it trying to get better mileage at some point, as you said, probably mid-70's.

Or someone saw the letter G in the VIN and the single snorkel air cleaner and single exhaust and assumed it was a 2 BBL.
