No. Standard log exhaust manifolds and blue painet indicate standard 440. Also the letter in the VIN is a J, HP motor would have been an L.

Not in '66, no L code engine that year and there also would have been no orange 440 in '66 either.
Agreed. A 66 TNT would have standard log manifolds, a different cam than the later TNTs. I should've looked at the VIN, I always forget to check those 66-older non-dash VINs, I think 66 is the only year that the engine code is in there?

Wow I missed this one. This car is gorgeous I hope the guy who bought it joins our group. I thought I would add a couple more picture for posterity, just in case.

I have a question though, I have never seen a head rest as pictured on the drivers side, and it appears the passenger side might move too. Was the drivers side factory? Was it an option on any other '66 Chrysler?

I added another just because its pretty. :)

I've seen driver's side headrests without having one on the passenger side but I haven't seen seats quite like those. Beautiful!

From what I have seen on earlier cars, headrests were an add-on (like seen in this car), and if there was only one it seen more commonly on the passenger side. For this car, though, I believe the top of the passenger seat slides up/down to be a headrest. I don't know why the driver's is different, would think both would be the same?

Doesn't appear that top section on the seatback does anything on the driver's side...

Separate removable headrest for ????? optional.
Arggghhh...

Damn you. Now I have to go back and edit my reply...

OK. But apparently the driver's side doesn't?
Thus the availability of a headrest there?

Quite often when these seats get reupholstered they get redone without the upholsterer knowing about it so the cover winds up not allowing it to move. I made sure I showed mine what it had to do.

You know I wonder if the seats in my Imp do that???:realcrazy:

Now that would be funny, if a car you have had for that many years actually could be raised, to make it a more useful height for you. :)

Someone mentioned to me in Carlisle, that a fluid looking head rest extension, was an option in '66. I never knew or noticed this before.

It has me wondering a bit about my '66, but I have the window sticker and it is not listed as a option. I will still give it a tug next time I am at my shop. :)

I might be mistaken but I thought all 66's with buckets had the passenger side headrest. Chryslers that is, not sure about Imperials.

Jeezes, Matt, you bought this car..... when?
Well I joined this site after I was made aware of it but maybe several months before I bought it. It did take me some time before I realized the passenger seat reclined.....
The other thing is that I've seen these cars with the headrests and am always glad my car does not have them.

Paging detmatt - PVents here my friend!

1966 Chrysler New Yorker Base | eBay

This one has tons of options (both seats are power!), one of the nicest 65-66 NY coupes I've seen in a long time. Too bad about the steering wheel cracks, though.
And is it a real TNT???
The only 'flaw' I see is the aftermarket cruise control.
Perhaps somebody with more ambition than me can harvest the rest of the pics to put in here, this car deserves future reference.

As to whether or not the engine is a TNT, look at the fender tag. Under the 'AB' on the tag, there is a numeric code. '82' is the code for the TNT option. I think '83' is the "standard" 440. Does anyopne have a photo of the fender tag ?

No fender tag pics on the listing for this one and the upper bolsters on my seats are stitched to the lowers.
I definitely would've noticed as many times as I've rubbed the seats down with conditioner.

Funny there was no mention of the sliding upper backrest in the page I grabbed offthe Hammtramk Registry

Lol! Don't hold your breath Mar.
