Wait, wait, wait.
I bought new, a 1967 Dodge Dart GT 273-2, Auto.
The GTS got you the 273-4.
Then, very late in 73, they offered as optional on the GTS, a 383-4.
Period. But only cuz I remember it that way. Let's all produce literature that adds to that.

Every 67 GTS I have seen and every 67 GTS in the GTS registry is a H code =383 HP. Only add I have seen for the 67 is this. Never say never but all the ones I have seen are 383 cars 457 total production with almost half stick and the other half autos. Mine had power brakes which supposedly you could not get but is was on the broadcast sheet and so equipped. The 67 GTS was a option on the GT it had the GT on the door panels and trunk lid but the GTS 383 4 bbl on the fender. I have also seen some articles saying the early GTS had the GT on the fender and the other places but still carried the 383 engine.

I'm digging up stuff that backs you up also.
So...
Standard on the GT was the 273-2 with the 273-4 as an option.
When the 383-4 was introduced, it was the GTS.
I still see nothing about any 318.

I have production numbers, in '68 for the GT you could get the 170 or the 225 for 6 bangers and they made 6,172 273-2 & 4,735 318-2. The GTS for '68 was available with 340-4 & 383-4. These don't include convertibles.

For '67 the book doesn't show any GTSs but the GT was available with 170, 225, 273-2, 273-4 & 383-4.

67 GTS Was a option on the Gt just as the add shows GT= 383 GTS . It was a late introduction in the 67 model year only 457 do to the late introduction . I would like to see a GT with a factory 383 in it. The top of line engine as far as I know and have seen in the GT was the 273 4 bbl , solid lifter , dual point distributor which was 235 hp. A true 67 GTS is a little hard to discern from the outside but the 5th letter in the vin = H will be your first clue they also have a boxed section in front of the rear spring perches similar to convertibles. I have never seen any info in the dealer handbooks I assume again do to the late introduction date.

A big block Dart would be fun, a small block Dart would be fun and nimble.

Matt, you don't fit comfortably in a Dart.... then there's that horrible ride
I never said I had to have one but if I did it'd be a '68. Hell if my legs were an inch longer I'd have to remount the seat in my Challenger further back.

Really? My challenger had all kinds of length in the front........ I prefer the looks of the 68 Darts also

Around town it might be all right but for the longer trips I'd want more legroom.

True, 1967 GTS was only available with the 383. In 1968, it was with 340, 383, or if you ordered a Mr. Norm's car, a 440. For 1969, all three were FACTORY options.

Why I said 273 for a '67, I dunno. I know better than that.

I found the side to side space restrictive, especially with the console.

Yeah...it's not a road trip car

As I was typing this I gotta get out of this conversation because I may be thinking of the Mirada

My book is calling the Mr. Norms cars a GSS for '68 and for '69 the the M-code units are refered to as GT Sports. Just sayin'

I think the Mr. Norm's GSS cars were supercharged.

As far as leg room in your Challenger on road trips go's....... That what the Imperial is for.

Some were Will though I've mainly only seen or heard of small blocks with the superchargers .. some Demons definitely come to mind
