I would never use a mat on a trunk floor. Even if it was factory, the trunk dress up carpet is much nicer, more practical and does not invite rust.

yes, the mat is what killed my trunk ,and I'm sure many others...it's a sponge, that's all it is.

of course, we could also say that owner ignorance also does that....just turn your head and ignore the problems, and they will all go away.
