The green was a preservative, not a paint.

Me too, or silver or black or butterscotch or burnt orange...

I can live, too with silver and black. Butterscotch is great on B-Bodys, no matter if 69 or 71 but FK5 is a real "no go" for me (sorry Dave)

Give me any color, including UG-1 Lawn Green and Diarrhea Brown over a high impact color. I hated them in 1970 and I hate them in 2013.
