Octane Booster

I would like to thank everyone for their input. I have many choices that didn't occur to me thanks to everyones ideas. I can get race gas about ten miles away and I have a small airport in my city! Sooo the Imp is going to get a taste of "Good" gas! Thanks...

As I said earlier, at the "99 Cent" stores here in California, every one I've been to offer some sort of Octane Booster for 99 cents. They work, and you don't have to pay 5 bucks for a major brand name.

surethey work if want to go from 91 to 91.1 octane

I don't really care. If the cars pings without it and doesn't with it, that's 99 cents well spent! That is the whole point of this entire tread.
Snotty I do understand your viewpoint, and I'm good with it. For me, I have a big issue with simply dumping stuff in without some understanding of what it is, does and what side effects may come later. Technically speaking, you could urinate in your fuel supply and change ping... if it would just pickup a reliable mix of piss and fuel. If you want to tune a little away, you might escape the ping, or you could improve the fuel and tune a little more in... most wouldn't really notice the difference unless the engine has a high compression ratio.

I like this topic, because I do believe we are going to continue to have fuel problems and they will get worse. I think it would be good to have a plan b or plan c for keeping your classic easy to run. Who really wants a stainless or plastic tank, stainless fuel lines with an ethanol rated pump, new rubber lines and a aftermarket carb that may hold up to ethanol? That doesn't address whatever wear protection lost to low sulpher fuels... gasoline is too. I don't want to become a chemical engineer or mix up fuels like some mad scientist, but I question what is here as well as what is coming... it would be funny if I started doomsday prepping by stocking up on Edelbrock carbs and performance camshafts.
