Oil pump look good?

Interesting read on this subject. I run Valvoline VR-1 10w-30 Conventional. Not because of this list, it was recommended to me by SK Speedshop on Long Island. Turns out it's in top 5 and the only 2 out of top 5 made for street use. It's a little pricey at 8 a can, but worth it considering we're driving 50+ year old motors around.

What oil brands offer the best protection ***Good read***
 
Really see no benefit at all in filling with petroleum jelly, these are positive displacement pumps and if working properly should easily pull from the sump. Use a hex priming rod with the intermediate shaft (gear) removed and prime the pump before startup, that's all that's needed.
