I used to bend the stock push rods all the time. I used to carry a couple with me and tools to replace them anywhere it happen. I did run a big lumpy cam and some nasty springs back in the day.

I did my own heads in 1985 at the auto hobby shop on Vance Air Force Base in Oklahoma. It was fun at that time. I wouldn't have a problem doing it again with the proper equipment. I also did the head on my MG Midget a few years ago, but that was a old school, garage floor job...............
