What old tools and equipment do you still use? Nothing like the old stuff. What you got? Here’s my 1952 Ford 8N tractor. Come see me when your Kubota is 67 years old. Never mind I’ll be long gone! Never mind the Polara on it’s side in the background!

1971 Fender Super Reverb

1967 Barclay Rocket
1967 Harmony Solid State

Guitars? 1976 Univox Ripper (heavily used and modified) Kent Americana, and a Buck Owens Telecaster played by my son. Not necessarily in that order.

Now those are Jim Dandy’s!
Yea, the 58 Gibson and the 59 Ampeg were my father’s, the Barclay and the Harmony were my grandfathers (actually the tractor and the shopsmith we’re also his). The Gretsch kit I picked up in a junk shop and re built. I sold a ton of awesome stuff when I left Montreal (a 62 Les Paul standard and a 66 SG custom in Polaris white ... ugh!) but these here are all filed under “if you want them, check the obituary’s and bring a shovel”. Wouldn’t sell em for the world.

We had a lovely 1952 Ford 8N where I grew up. As far as I know it's still there being used. My dad and I restored it. I might try and buy it for my new place I just got with a shop...

I make my living playing music - so vintage instruments are the gold standard:

This makes the coffee every morning. Mother in law accidentally broke the glass top so foil does the turns now. Serve it black, with grounds at the bottom of the cup! Awesome!

I still use all this stuff nearly every day. I won't go into the list of gear that preceeded all that...

Needless to say, I generally prefer the old stuff, and will repair restore and rejuvinate to keep it going if required.

Quality, durability, craftsmanship...

i do not have a new thing. the computer i'm typing this on came out of the electronics recycling bin at my local transfer station. got most of my tools out of the trunks of junk cars.

You need.to add a vintage Steinway to that collection.

I too have a 1987 vintage JVC disc player, just the slightly fancier XL-V450 vs. XL-V250. Still works perfect, and I couldn't tell you how many thousands of hours of use it's had so far. The quality of the audio equipment that was built in Japan is amazing. Once they moved production to Malaysia and China, the lifespan of the equipment dropped dramatically.
