"D" is 1966 and older....
Actually, 1967 and up are "C" bodies (Chrysler) and the Imparials were "C" body ,, "Y" line...
SO I guess, technically ,, Imperials '67 up are "C" bodies...

That would make my other post incorrect.. my apologies ...

Sure I always go to Carlisle wit ha different Mopar every year, last year was a 1955 Chrysler C300

I dont't know, but, my 66 Sport Fury is considered a C-body. Never heard of a D body Mopar anywhere. Not one designated a D anyway. It was always A, B, C.

Nope I think @Xenon was right that Imps are C-bodies starting in ‘67.

OK, kids, the "D"-body applied to the '64-'66 Imperials only! After that, they were considered "C"-body cars from '67 to the end of Imperial production.

The "Y" is the car line!!! Example - A 1967 Coronet is a "B"-body, but the first character of the VIN starts with a "W". You never hear of one referred to as a "W"-body, do you? An Imperial VIN starts with a "Y", and is NOT a "Y" body car.

The only Imperial to actually BE a "Y"-body was the '89-'92 front-wheel-drive Imperials. The Factory Service Manual validates this.
