On the way in to Raleigh this morning. Comming through the town of Wake Forest I passed a beautifully restored 56 or 57 Packard Caribeian. It was an Auqua 4 door. I would have taken a quick shot with the phone, but he was in the left lane going slow & had cars stacked up behind him. I just drove by admiring & smiled. Only one I have ever seen

If it was a 4 door then it had to have been a Clipper, (jr car), an Exeutive, (56 only hy-bred jr.-sr car), or a Patrician, (sr. car). All 55 Caribbean's were convertibles and in 56 there were 256 convertibles and 150 2 door hardtops.
57 Packards were really only rebadged studebakers.

All are a rare sight today.

I knew I should have taken a pic of it. I love old cars & I'm a Hugh fan, but I'm no expert. So here's what I can add. I parted out a 55 Packard Clipper 20 years ago. Still have a few pieces of around here somewhere. You"re right a smaller car than the one I saw today. And more plain looking. The car I saw had headlights similar to the 57? dodge pick ups. And you are right seems like I remember a Stude that looked very similar. I' m thinking the 58 President ?

From your discription it sounds like a 57/58 Clipper .........

These cars were Studebaker bodys with packard styling que's
A 56 Packard Clipper looked like this .......

The one on the bottom look more like what I saw. It was a mono tone. Seems like the headlights had a deeper & darker insert. And the car I parted out all those years ago was 54. I did Bing search just to make sure. The car I saw today looked bigger than the 54 I had. And much more classy. Like I said I was driving up on him & keeping a watchfull eye on the cars stacked up behind him. Anyway it was nice to see.

There was a 54 clipper 4 door that sat by my house for about 2 years beautiful shape the big straight 8 but i could never get ahold of the guy who owned it then one day there was a police chase and the guy ran rite into the side of it then It disappeared you definitely don't c them around anymore when they were such superior cars of there day
