is there any reason why the igniter 1 would work in my car better than the igniter 2. the car was running fine with the original ignitor but I put in the igniter II and now the car is running like crap it is a Chrysler Newport 3831968

From their website
"You cannot use solid core (typically copper) spark plug wires with this product. Solid core wires do not suppress electro magnetic interference (EMI) which will interfere with electronics in this product. A suppression style or spiral wound spark plug wires must be used."

Not sure that is your problem.

Off topic and not meant to hi jack, but what would happen if you used the Ignitor with a stock Coil and left the Ballast Resistor in place and only wired the module to the coil?

I have the msd wires and yes I have the flamethrower 2

What did you do with your ballast resistor?

I put a jumper wire. The wires are
[h=1]MSD Street Fire Spark Plug Wires 5531[/h]it says they are spiral core.

I run 5 Pertronix systems. Two I's and three II's. The Ignitor I's are from the first year of manufacture and these use the stock Ford coil with the stock Ford pink resistance wire in place. Never a problem and they are set up the way the old instructions say. The II's use the Flamethrower II coil, either the ballast bypassed or the pink wire bypassed along with stock reproduction spark plug wires. Of course those would be radio suppression wires. Once again flawless running.

So I should be able to run an Ignitor I with the stock coil and the Ballast Resistor in place and not have any issues?

You should since the only thing I did with them was buy it, pop the distributor cap, remove the points, drop it in, set the gap and then adjust the timing when running.

With the IIs I had to go crawling under the dash to get my hands on the pink resistance wire up near the ignition switch. F100 piece of cake the big Mercury a PIA.

I have an Ignitor I in my 66 Charger with the Ballast Resistor and stock coil in place. runs great.

okay I put the regular ignitor in and bam started right up wasn't running rough put it into gear didn't stall or try to stallI do not have the ballast resistor hooked up I have the jumper wire in place being the flamethrower to says that it has a built-in resistor anywaysthe only problem that I found was when I stepped on the gas hard it kind of bogged out a little bit.

I have to check it again, but the car starts right up like a new car would I couldn't believe it. Maybe its the carb, I know the gas has been in there a while with stabilizer, just went and put 93 in it now.
