Photos of Vintage Auto Dealerships, Repair Shops, and Gas Stations

Thank you @amazinblue82 — Detroit is a sad story. But at least this automotive outcome beats the main train station’s fate.

50 years from now, when my 3 year old grandson is an Old Man with a Hat .. maybe this post from "Pa Pa" will come up.

Again "off-axis" for this thread, but this is (IMHO) striking vehicle-related building architecture -- modern today but hints of much older styles, and unique enough to likely to be truly "vintage" in a few decades.

location is above each pic.

per post #26 - the future (artist's rendition below) is well on its way to fruition.

The train depot, thanks to Ford's leadership and plenty of others, is gonna land on its feet tho. It took someone/something like a billion dollar corp. (leading a billion dollar investment) to bring it back. But oh my -- the indignities that structure endured.

Michigan Theater -- even if they ripped out the parking -- is gone forever I suppose. No deep pockets (surely dozens of millions of dollars) waiting in the wings for this one :(

Ulsan, South Korea (across the Korean straits from Japan - about 100 miles wide).

Advertised as a "modern" Asian architectural design -- lights and BIG canopys. Photo is from 2013. SK is the first major oil company, part of a "chaebol", in South Korea (they say, founded 1962).

Note .. this is a "self-service" joint .. common in US since the 70's, just kinda caught on in Korea in the 1990's.

1966 - Still Seoul -- typical of the old 'full service" model Korea only recently (like 1990's) started moving away from

Speedway, 8770 W. Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA. Definitely "modern" architecture -- probably something "ecological- green" going on too.

Doesn't look like that fancy overhead architecture could take a NE snowload (looks hollow - cuz its so thick - under the shiny stuff). Still pretty striking architecture.

Nagasaki, Japan, circa. 2000's, but done in early 1960's modern "Space Age" architecture.

Tank Garage Winery, ex-Texaco station built 1930's, 1020 Foothill Blvd, Calistoga, CA (Napa Valley region).

No other history found yet. Lotta reused structures all over Napa Valley is my recollection (havent been in a decade tho).

Looks art-deco origins, was a two-bay shop it appears. They kept a lot of the architecture intact over the 80 years .. interior of course all different.
