The last posting, of the 3 Fuseys I've owned:
72 Fury III, bought in Northern IN in 2004 (ebay).
Seller had pics and a description, had 40,000 listed as the mileage but didn't say beans about the mileage.
I noticed the front seat seemed in good shape but pics weren't very good.
Placed a hail-Mary bid on it and walked away (I don't sit and watch, bidding repeatedly).
Checked my email a few days later and saw an ebay email with subject line 'you won! 72 Fury' and I thought, WTF did I do this to myself again (I had been discussing earnestly with a car-buddy about getting away from buying junk cars).
So we got in buddy's rollback and headed north to get the car. The instant I opened the door to the car I knew the 40k mileage was real.
Interior wasn't perfect (cracked armrest, heater core stain on the carpet, mild wear around headlight and wiper switches) but it was just awfully fresh and vibrant.
Rest of the car was rusty everywhere on the skin, complete with rust-staining dripping below the side-molding. Needed lots of bodywork and a paintjob, back then I ballparked at $4000 - and I wouldn't have bought the car at that price. I think the only rust-free body panels were hood and trunklid. So buddy got it running really well and we sold it to another car-buddy. I got a test-ride in before selling and it was whisper-smooth and super-quiet, even on crappy used tires and ancient shocks. If I could've gotten into it without ever seeing the exterior, I might've kept it awhile. We discovered 72-dated sparkplug wires on it during its re-awakening. I stumbled across it a few times after buddy #2 sold it and it had deteriorated further, especially on the inside.
