pics of a bad disc swap - how NOT to route the hose!

I can now 100% see how someone could route the brakeline like that. I just put my first disc conv. on the front and the instructions said "route the brakehose straight up and between the shock and the spindle". I tried different routings and feel like it shouldnt go between the controlarms like described but this is the ONLY way to do it so that the line is long enough. In the pic, my suspension is fully dropped so back at ride height, there is more clearace but its impossible to not have the hose touch anything!? Am I missing something???

Go to the brake shop (literally any), with the hose in hand and say I need this but four inches longer. Chances are it's on the shelf but if not 15 minutes later they'll have you a brand new one custom made to your specs.

Under no circumstance should your lines be routed through a bind or high friction area.

Yeah I am wondering if the instructions are worded wrong. "Route between the spindle and shock..". It would make more sense to have them routed infront between the disc and spindle... sort of like the original drum lines were!?

You got it. If it were me I'd always run the lines the same way they have always been as long as it would work. I mean it worked that way for 50 or so years. I think you deciphered the code the right way. That's my 2¢ at least...

Be careful with a longer hose also - if it bunches up and touches anything when at ride height it'll rub through.
Any hose that is not in its original application must be reviewed carefully.
If the hose rubs through, then the original drum brakes would actually perform better. :(
